Commerce And Management

Faculty Profile-adequacy and competency of faculty.

The Department of Commerce and Management is as old as the institution itself. Kanara College Society started Dr.A.V.Baliga College Of Commerce in 1966 to meet the growing need for business education in North Kanara District. It is the first independent commerce college in the district and second one in the jurisdiction of Karnataka University,Dharawad. There after many colleges have been started. Over the years it had various luminaries such as Dr. N.R.Rao,Prof C.S.Joshi,Prof R.S.Kodalli, Prof.T.M.Pandit and Dr.P.A.Bhat. on its staff. As per the university guidelines Commerce is the single faculty college.Again in 1998 when Karnataka University introduced BBA Course our college also started BBA to provide management education and there after the college is renamed as Dr. A.V. Baliga College Of Commerce and Business Administration. The commerce section is an aided one and the BBA is a self financed course. For educational administration purpose both commerce and management is working as single department. The Students of the department are well placed in different walks of life.

Again in 2010 11 the College Started Post graduate course in Commerce M.Com to provide vertical mobility to the Commerce graduates.

The faculty fulfills the eligibility conditions. The department has adequate and competent faculty. Each of the faculty besides teaching experience, papers presented papers at National and International conferences, seminars and workshops and significant publications including book-length studies and research papers to his/her credit. With the diverse specialization of the faculty, the department has been able to provide to the students much needed guidance and support.
